      矿业公司发展壮大的主要途径为找矿突破和收购 /并购,这两项工作的核心都是地质。矿业公司地质工作分地质找矿、矿山地质和资源禀赋评估 3大项 7个步骤。首先,从成矿理论模型到 2维/2. 5维模型,再到 3维模型(含从矿体地质体模型到资源块模型)的过程。是地质数据迅速增加的过程,这部分属于勘探地质师( Exploration Geologist)的地质找矿工作。其次,从 3维模型(含)到加入采矿数据后的储量模型,并和采矿工作一起进行品位控制从而降低成本。这属于资源地质师( Resource Geologist)的矿山地质工作。再者,评估项目时,要先核实地质 /采矿等数据的可靠性。欲读懂对方的技术报告(如符合 NI 43-101或 JORC规范 /标准披露的报告),就要根据地质 /采矿数据建立自己的矿体和资源模型。此外,还要对项目的找矿潜力进行评估,此项工作做得好往往会极大降低收购成本。 NI 43-101和 JORC报告的假设前提是合资格人( QP/CP)做得正确。与中国地质标准相比,这些报告更取决于其合资格人的发挥。而其合资格人的入选标准对专业水平要求较笼统,基本是地质 /矿业本科加几年行业工作经验,对地质建模(须用建模工程软件实现)和有无统计学(geostatistics)背景没做要求。另外,这些报告的合规性和合资格人在编写时的客观性与否也值得读者注意。收购方不宜直接使用 NI 43-101/ JORC报告的资源量 /储量结果来建自己的财务模型。除较高地质科学知识和地质传统技能外,娴熟使用能够处理大量数据的 3维等软件已经成了矿业地质相关人员的必备技能。矿业公司地质高层 /资源禀赋评估高管需能带领队伍完成 3大项 7步工作。

      Mining companies grow and develop through exploration discoveries and acquisitions/mergers,both heavily relying on geology. Geology work at mining companies is divided into three major areas:exploration geol. ogy,mining geology,and resource endowment assessment. And geology work includes seven steps in detail:from theoretical mineralization models to 2D/2. 5D models,and then to 3D models(including from orebody / geological models to resource block models),which are characterized by a rapid increase in geological data,are the work of exploration geologists. From 3D models(including 3D models)to reserve models incorporating mining data,and grade control performed alongside mining operations to reduce costs,are the work of resource geologists. When evaluating a project,the reliability of geological/mining data must be verified first. To understand the other party′s technical reports(such as NI 43-101 or JORC reports), it is essential to build one′s own orebody and resource models based on geological/mining data. Furthermore,the mineralization potential for future exploration is neces. sary to study and assess,which often significantly reduces acquisition costs. NI 43-101 and JORC technical reports presume the correctness of the work of the Qualified Person(QP/CP). Compared to China′s geological codes, these reports rely even more heavily on the performance of QP/CPs. The selection criteria for QP/CP are relativelyprinciple-based regarding professional qualifications,generally requiring a bachelor′s degree in geology or miningand several years of industry experience. There is no mention of geological modeling(which must be implemented with modeling software)and a geostatistics knowledge. Furthermore,readers should be aware of the regulatorycompliance of these reports and the potential for QP/CP not to be completely objective when preparing them.Acquirers should not directly use resource/reserve results from NI 43-101/JORC reports to build their own financialmodels. In addition to geological science knowledge and traditional geological skills,proficiency in using 3D software and other data-intensive software is essential for mining geology professionals. Senior geological executivesand resource assessment executives of mining companies should be able to lead their teams to complete three tasksin seven steps mentioned above.
